Then we have "ISA" again at page 54 — same abbreviation as International Standard Atmosphere, so the index lists it separately because it's a distinct entry. And "IVSI" at page 75 — that's the Instantaneous Vertical Speed Indicator.
Moving to the J section: "Jet" at page 155, "Jets" at page 154 — again singular and plural separated. "Jet Standard Atmosphere" at page 86 — that's a different standard atmosphere model used for jet engine performance.
In the K section: "Kelvin" at pages 2 and 33, "Kelvin (Absolute)" at page 2 — that's the temperature scale you'll use in gas law calculations. "Kilogram" at page 2, "Kilometres" at page 2, "Kilometres Per Hour" at page 2 — these are all units of measurement defined early in the book. "Kinetic Heat" and "Kinetic heating" both at page 30 — that's the temperature rise from air compression at high speed. "Knots" at page 2 — the unit of speed.
Finally, the L section starts: "LAND 2" and "LAND 3" both at page 380 — these are autoland capability categories. And "Landing Flare Retard Mo" — that entry is cut off, but you can see the pattern.
So what's the takeaway here? This index page is your map. When you're studying, you'll use it to find where a concept is defined and where it's applied. Notice how some terms appear multiple times — like IRS at three pages — because a topic gets introduced, then built upon, then applied. That's the structure of this book: definitions early, applications later.
The key skill is recognizing that an index entry like "Integrator" at page 229 is where the formal definition lives, while "Integrators" at 228 might be where the concept is first mentioned in context. When you're revising, you check both.
