Any aeroplane with more than 44 passenger seats must be capable of being evacuated in less than 90 seconds in a simulated emergency. That's a certification requirement — the aircraft and its emergency equipment layout have to prove they can get everyone out within that time during a test. Let's move on to a specific piece of equipment: megaphones. The regulation says that an operator shall not operate an aeroplane with a maximum approved passenger seating configuration of more than 60 seats, when carrying one or more passengers, unless it is equipped with portable battery-powered megaphones. These megaphones must be readily accessible for use by crew members during an emergency evacuation. The number of megaphones required depends on the passenger seating configuration. Here's the scale: for a passenger seating configuration of 61 to 99, you need one megaphone. For 100 or more, you need two megaphones. And there's a special rule for aeroplanes with more than one passenger deck — for example, a double-deck aircraft. In all cases when the total passenger seating configuration across all decks is more than 60, at least one megaphone is required. So even if you have two decks, if the total seats exceed 60, you need at least one megaphone somewhere on the aircraft. That covers the evacuation procedures and the megaphone requirements.
