Then under T we have a long run: TA on page 483, Take-off Mode on page 394, TAS on page 44, TAT on pages 31 and 97, TAWS on page 467, TCAS on pages 311 and 479, TCAS I on page 479, TCAS II on page 479. Notice the pattern — some entries have a single page number, some have two. TAT appears on both page 31 and page 97, which means that topic is discussed in two separate places in the book. TCAS appears on 311 and 479, and then TCAS I and TCAS II each appear on 479 — so the breakdown of those two variants is covered on that same page. You'll also see full names alongside abbreviations. For example, TAWS is listed, and separately "Terrain Awareness System" on page 467 — same page, because TAWS is just the acronym for Terrain Awareness System. Similarly, TOD on page 274 and "Top of Descent" on page 274 — TOD is the abbreviation for Top of Descent. And TCAS itself stands for Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance System, which is why you see it listed as an acronym. There are also entries like "Temperature Error" on page 63 and "Temperature Error Correction" on page 63 — those are two distinct but related topics, both on the same page. And "Terrain Clearance Floor" on page 471, which is a separate concept from the Terrain Awareness System. You'll notice some entries have page numbers that wrap across lines, like "Tied Gyros" on pages 144 and 153, and "Torque Motor" on pages 172 and 220. The index is just telling you where to find each topic — it's your map of the book. So when you're studying, you use this index to jump straight to a specific subject. If you want to find "Thrust Mode Annunciator Panel," you look it up — it's on page 396, abbreviated as TMA. If you want "Thrust Rating Limit," that's page 398. "Thrust Levers" and "Thrust Control" are both on page 398 as well. One thing to note: some entries are grouped together because they're related. "The Automatic Landing Sequence" is on page 380, "The Autopilot" on page 351 — those are separate chapters or sections.
