Then from MID (TOC) — that's the MID VOR/DME, which is your top of climb point — to the UIR BDY — the Upper Information Region boundary — at flight level 250, with a true airspeed of 250 knots. Then from the UIR BDY to SOKMA, also at FL250, with an ATC restriction noted. Then from MERUE (TOD) — that's your top of descent point — to LFPG — Paris Charles de Gaulle — with an ATC restriction, at FL300, with a distance of 40 and an estimated elapsed time of 12 minutes. Totals are at the bottom.
Now let's get into the actual exercise. You're given specific information to complete the enclosed Airways Flight Plan. The charts you need are: the SID chart — specifically London Heathrow MIDHURST DEPARTURES; the AREA chart — LONDON - UK and PARIS - FRANCE; the EN ROUTE chart — E(HI)4; and the STAR chart — PARIS, FRANCE, Charles de Gaulle.
The route is from LONDON HEATHROW (EGLL) at coordinates N5129 W0028 to PARIS CDG (LFPG) at coordinates N4901 E0233. You depart EGLL using the SID MID 3G to the MID VOR/DME; the aircraft is airborne at 0623 UTC. Then you follow the ATS route to BOGNA at coordinates N5042.1 W00015.0. Important note: on the E(HI)4 chart, this position is called WOR — so BOGNA and WOR are the same point, just different names depending on the chart. From BOGNA you go to HARDY at N5028.3 E00029.5, and then to DPE at N4955.6 E00111.3. Arrival is via the STAR DPE 1E, 1W to Paris CDG.
You're also given the meteorological winds. At FL250, from MID to HARDY, the wind is 300/85 — that's 300 degrees true at 85 knots. From HARDY to DPE, the wind is 300/60 — 300 degrees true at 60 knots. Your TAS at FL250 is 390 knots.
So, to complete this exercise, you would take that blank log and fill in each leg: from EGLL to MID via the SID, then MID to BOGNA/WOR, then BOGNA to HARDY, then HARDY to DPE, then DPE to LFPG via the STAR. For each leg, you'd calculate your magnetic track, apply the wind to get your heading and groundspeed, compute the distance, and then work out your estimated elapsed time and ETA. The variation, wind, and TAS are given to get you started.
